I'll start with the good services we received on our visit to DoveLewis. They have complimentary coffee, tea, hot cocoa, vending machines that are reasonably priced and pretty clean restrooms. Also, They immediately got our fur baby taken to the back since she was visibly disorientated. However, they are ridiculously expensive. They make assumptions without facts. They don't keep owners updated/informed. The information given when asked was incorrect and miscommunicated. Whe...n asked what was going on with the animal their response was "I believe they are working on her right now and getting a treatment plan for discharge" as their generic, uneducated answer after being told by the "doctor" that they really can't do anything but wait and keep her cool. Showed up around 7:00 and left around 11:30pm. They claimed that something happened with the first lab tests so they were running new ones and waiting for results without updating us about our animals current status. When approached with the accusation they had made, they said that's not what they meant when clearly it was what they were insinuating before ruling out all possiblities or ever even presenting any facts to anyone in the end. They wanted over $1,000 to keep her for one night with some sedation and fluids while under close care. Moral of the story: I recommend not using DoveLewis' clinic in Portland, Oregon. However, I hear nothing but good things about Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency clinic. Had it not been a windy, slower drive to get to that one or we researched DoveLewis first we would of gone there. We were just worried about our fur baby and wanted to get wherever we could the quickest.
My dog was there to donate blood. The process went very smooth. The staff was fabulous. They made sure my dog was comfortable with the procedure. She even got treats and a toy for donating. We chose to donate because of the great work Dove Lewis does, and has always done. As humans we do what we can to give back to our community. This is a way for your pet to give back as well.
Thought my dog had a stroke. the staff met me in the parking lot and took him in the back to begin working with him as I checked him in. I met with a vet within 30 minutes. She was Great. Got him diagnosed him with a probable inner ear infection. Sent us home with meds and instructions to follow up with our vet. Great care, compassionate staff, he didn't have to wait in a holding kennel for 11 hours like our last emergency experience at a different facility. I would highly recommend Dove Lewis!
We took our dog Milo to Dove Lewis at 5.45 a.m. on a Saturday, he was immediately admitted to the ICU. He was severely dehydrated from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, the second bout of this that he's had. The look of relief on the vet's face when we announced we had Trupanion major medical for Milo was palpable - it meant she would not have to euthanize an animal that she can treat.
I can’t thank the staff of Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital enough for taking such good care of Izzy before she passed. The nurses rushed out to help before we even got into the lobby. They were so kind and compassionate to both of us and called me throughout the night with updates. When I had to make that heart-wrenching decision, they comforted me and provided me with a place to mourn. And I’d like to personally thank Dr Earl and Dr VanLishout for easing her pain and giving her a respectful and dignified passing. Their professionalism is only surpassed by their obvious love of animals. Thank you for making one of the hardest days of my life a little less so. And thank you for giving my beloved companion the best care she could have possibly received.
